DUBAI - One of the Top Travel Destinations in the World!

Dubai is an affluent cosmopolitan city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) located on the Eastern Coast of the Arab Peninsula, in the south-west corner of the Arabian Gulf.  It is one of the world's'most visited destinations drawing more than 12 million foreign visitors each year, with year-round sunshine, intriguing deserts, beautiful beaches, and luxurious hotels.  The journey to this breathtaking ultramodern city is dominated by skyscrapers with astonishing skylines. The city has broken records for being the world's busiest international airport with the world's tallest tower. Dubai is known for its luxury shopping, lively nightlife, and boast Dubai Fountain with jets and lights that are sequenced to music.

Although Dubai is one of the most sought-after vacation destinations, there are still apprehensions regarding the culture, and the safety of this attractive, wealthy, and affluent location that is surrounded by opulence. Dubai mixes modern culture with rich history and offers awesome thrills such as a float above the desert dunes in a hot air balloon, high-speed ride at IMG Worlds of Adventure, or skydive over Palm Jumeirah. There is something for everyone, including the epitome of fine dining, especially in Dubai International Financial Centre and City Walk. The legal drinking age is 21, so remember to take your photo identification.  Understanding the social expectations will help you to enjoy your visit and help you to avoid any offensives to the culture. You have heard "When in Rome?" Use that concept and you will be just fine.

Listed below are just a few tips on enjoying your visit to Dubai.

  • Dubai offers Alcohol, which is available in licensed bars and restaurants, and for your convenience, most are attached to hotels. Because Dubai is a Muslim country, alcohol is only allowed in designated areas.
  • Dubai has superb gold courses like Montgomerie, Els Blub & Arabian Ranches with reasonable green fees.
  • In the mood for shopping? head to Souk markets for bargain shopping and to see and smell the colors of the region's famous spices, jewelry, and scents. This shopping experience is magical and exotic.
  • During the winter months, head to the Camel Race Track to see the camel race for a once in a lifetime experience.
  • Climb aboard Dubai's Luxury 2.5 hour cruise on the posh glass-enclosed Bateaux Dubai for an evening of cruising along the Dubai Creek. The Bateaux offers an open roof terrace with the opportunity to capture a glimpse of glittering Maktoum, Floating bridges, the Clock Tower, Dhow Wharfage, and Twin Towers. Enjoy your meal as you listen to soft piano music, dinner and house wines.
  • When choosing your hotel, Dubai offers budget options such as the Oberoi Dubai at approximately $96.00 per night, and of course the most elaborate location such as Burj Al Arab Jumeirah that will run you about $1225.00 per night. If you have a boatload of money to spend, or perhaps you just hit the lottery, you might want to spring for the Royal Suite that is fit for a King & Queen at an astounding $24,000.00 per night, and listed as the most expensive hotel room in the world.
  • Both men and women are expected to dress appropriately and modestly. Shoulders should be covered and too much leg, boobies, or tummy exposure is not a good look. Even when you visit the breathtaking beach scene, cover-ups are considered proper, so leave the bikinis at home.
  • The Islamic "Call to Prayer" can be heard almost anywhere in the city. All of the mosques are wired up to public speakers systems and the call is heard from the minaret 5 times per day. This is Islamic culture, so don't be alarmed, and do show respect.
