Women in Technology
For decades men dominated the technology industry, and it was an anomaly to see a woman graduate as an engineer or scientist. Today, women are not short-listed where technology is concerned, although the low numbers are still concerning. Women are proud inventors of the newest technology, but only make up the minority at 30% of the company's overall workforce, and only 17% of the company's technical careers. Although women in technology still report facing sexism and harassment, past numbers pale in comparison to the progression that successful women in technology represent in 2018. National women organizations for technology are on the rise, and these activist are here to stay. Even though women have made strides in the technology industry, female technology professionals based on recent statistics are still victims of the female-male wage gap receiving on an average of 63% lower salaries than men. For the female technology millennials, however, the future looks much brighter than in past decades, and with the die-hard evolution of equality, and the sagacious generations to come, women in technology will surely prove a force to be reckoned with in the future.
